Economic Activity in Costa Rica Increased Over the Past Year

Costa Rica News – The economic activity in Costa Rica has increased 3.7% in the last 12 months, from July 2017 to July 2018.
This is thanks to growth in construction, manufacturing, education, business services and health. This is the highest variation seen since December 2016.
July marks 10 consecutive months where the year-on-year growth of the month is greater than that of the previous month.
Construction, manufacturing, education and human health accounted for 46.6% of the interannual variation of the IMAE in July, as shown by the Central Bank.
Construction is accelerating since last March. Manufacturing shows a variation of 2.7% based on greater external demand of medical implements, iron and steel bars, and concentrates for soft drink preparation. Teaching and health activities increased 3.3% and public services 2.6%.
